God is absolute Good, everywhere present; we are one with God. |
• |
We have the spark of Divinity within us. Our very essence is of God, therefore we are inherently good. |
• |
We create our experiences by what we choose to think and what we feel and believe. |
• |
Prayer is creative thinking that connects us to the Divine and brings forth wisdom, healing, prosperity, and everything good. |
• |
Knowing and understanding the Laws of Life, we do and give our best by living the Truth we know. We make a wonderful difference. |

Upcoming
Event - DISCOVER “TRUE PSYCHOLOGY”
Guided Discussions on the
BHAGAVAD GITA (THE SONG OF GOD)
At Unity on the Lakeshore
Beginning Wednesday, March 7, 2012, 7:30-9:00pm
The ‘Gita’ is a venerable, ever-current, greatly beloved scripture from India. In 700 verses and 18 chapters, it is concise, poetic, and of limitless relevance to us “moderns.” The Gita explores the essence of human nature, the paths of inner growth (yoga, or connecting to our essence), the nature of the Divine, and especially the connections among these subjects. We read verses together, discuss the central themes, and connect the insights. We take advantage of commentaries and our own experiences of life to facilitate our study.
Regardless of the path you are on, or if you are searching or doubtful, etc., the Gita speaks with poetic eloquence to all, with infinite love and compassion, to our essence as humans, as if coming from our very being.
We begin with a clear look at ‘normal life’, where many of us feel caught, confused, helpless, etc., yet rarely speak about since we think that doing more of the same (but better next time!) will bring us what we desire. As the Gita guides us to examine our human nature, with its peculiar mix of ‘lower’ and ‘higher’ tendencies, we can gradually discover a new beginning with ocean-depths of meaning and purpose. Anyone who is willing to explore life-as-lived via this, the truest of psychological self-study, shall receive blessings without end.
Presenter/Facilitator: Jerry Coates has been a student/devotee of the Vedanta for almost 40 years. Following a personal crisis, he has found the Gita to be an intimate companion, with new meanings and insights emerging all the time. He is a former teacher and psychologist, with degrees from The University of Chicago and business owner/operator (office maintenance) and now lives in S.W. Michigan with Jane and their 5 grandcats.
